Our Story

From the deepest pain were born the brightest colors of my life

It all started with pain. When reality became too heavy, I would escape into my work. Into the soft embrace of yarn, the warm smiles of my clients, and the steady rhythm of orders. It saved me. But deep inside, something was still missing — color. The yarn in stock was always the same: safe, classic shades. Yet my soul craved brightness. Life. Emotions I could touch with my hands. Then one day, I accidentally stumbled upon a video of a woman hand-dyeing yarn. My heart tightened with longing. “I want to do that,” I whispered to myself. And so I tried. I had no knowledge, no experience — only a burning fire inside. The first skeins were terrible. The next ones were even worse. Hundreds of ruined yarns, moments of despair, dye on my hands, and tears in my eyes. But I didn’t give up. I learned to love even the failed skeins, because they were part of the journey.

That’s how Hamstersyarns was born. Today, every single skein is not just yarn. It is a piece of my soul — my pain, my joy, and my boundless love. I dye each one by hand, with tenderness and care, as if creating a little miracle for someone special. For you.

How every skein is born

We choose the fibre

Only the softest bases make it into our studio. Merino, BFL, silk blends — fibres we'd want touching our own hands.

02 🎨

We mix the colours

Ksenia mixes every dye by hand. No formulas, no shortcuts — just instinct built over years of practice.

03 💧

We dye & set

Each skein is hand-painted, then heat-set to lock in the colour. Every batch is slightly different. That's the point.

04 ✦

We wash, dry & pack

Skeins are hand-washed, dried slowly, and packed with care. What arrives is exactly what left our hands.
